What is the The Crowle Supported Housing Scheme? |
|
It is an independent living scheme for adults who have a learning disability.
It consists of six flats; each with it's own kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. There is a shared lounge, where the tenants can get together and watch "Sky" T.V. or hold meetings. There is also a laundry room with washing and drying facilities; a large garden where we can have summer barbecues; a pay phone (a phone can also be installed in a flat) and a main office. |
| Can I apply for a flat at the Crowle Independent Housing Scheme? |

If you have a learning disability then you can apply for a flat. All we ask is that you complete an application form and when a vacancy comes up your application will be considered equally with other applications. |

| Are there any staff at the scheme? |
Will the staff help me live independently? |
| Yes, there are three members of staff. Because the sheme is set up for people who do not need assistance with personal care, the scheme is not staffed 24hrs a day. |
Staff are available each day to offer guidence and support in all areas of independent living. Each tenant has staff quality time when extra guidance and training will be offered. |
| Will staff do my work for me? |
Will it be like living at home? |
| The simple answer is no! The help we offer is advice, guidance and support; staff will help you to do things for yourself and help you to be more independent. |
Yes and no. The Crowle Scheme is a friendly 'family' environment. You will probably find you have more freedom than where you live at the moment. However along with the freedom comes the responsibility that you have to take care of yourself and your flat. You will also have to help clean shared areas and show respect for others. Of course guidance in thse areas will be given. |

| The cost is very resonable, and it should not worry you at all. |

Staff will help every tenant to work out a weekly timetable of things they need to do, or would like to do - this can range from attending college couses to work placements. Each tenents timetable will be very different and specific to their own needs or interests.
